8th Grade Parents - Time to think About AHS Enrollment!
Current 8th grade students will begin to receive AHS course enrollment information very soon. Course enrollment will open up on Monday, February 6th via PowerSchool. There will be an enrollment fair at AHS on Wednesday, February 15th from 6pm until 8pm. This will be a great opportunity for incoming 9th graders to ask enrollment questions pertaining to course selection and options. There will also be an informational session available for parents and students. Course enrollment will close on Friday, February 24th.

Parent/Teacher Conferences - February 15th
The AMS staff will be here and available for conferences Wednesday evening, February 15, 4:00-7:30 p.m.  We are happy to visit with anyone who would like to attend, but we would especially like the opportunity to work with parents whose student(s) may be struggling academically or otherwise at school!
Additionally, the Book Fair is up and running in the library and will be open for shopping on Wednesday evening! Thank you for your continued support of AMS!

Check out all the things AMSPO is involved with at AMS by visiting the AMSPO page on the AMS website or by visiting the Facebook page. Feel free to join us for any of our upcoming meetings: February 3, March 3, April 14, May 5. Time is 1:30 - 2:45 PM at AMS.

There are two easy ways to give money to AMS at no cost to you. These programs pay AMS directly, the money does not go through AMSPO.

(1) Dillons Community Rewards. See the details on the AMS website about registering your Dillons Plus Card to benefit AMS.

(2) Box Tops. The days of clipping Box Tops from your Cheerios box and sending them to school with your kindergartener are long past. But, it is easy to submit your receipts electronically and immediately get credit.

• Download the Box Tops for Education app.

• If you already have a Box Tops account, go to your account (icon on the top right) and click “Manage Schools.” Click “Add School” to find Andover Middle School in Andover, Kansas. You can keep multiple schools in your account. The one checked as Current School when you submit the receipt will get the credit.

How to earn:

• If you have a paper receipt, click Scan in the app, select Paper Receipt, and take a photo.

• For online orders with an email receipt (Costco, CVS, Target, Sam’s Club, Walgreens), just forward the receipt email from the email address registered to your Box Tops account to

• For online orders without an email receipt (Amazon, InstaCart, Kroger, Walmart), click Scan in the app, select Digital Receipt, choose the retailer, then upload the digital receipt.

Watch the app for offers, including bonus box tops when you purchase certain items or a number of items at a store.

A Message From Health Services
Cold and flu season is upon us. This year the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) are both warning of high incidence for influenza, strep, RSV, and other viral/bacterial infections. Please consider the following guidelines before sending them back to school.
● Wait until your child has gone 24 hours without vomiting or running a fever (100 degrees or above) without the aid of medication, before sending them back to school.
● If your student is being treated with antibiotics for a contagious disease (such as strep throat), the student may return 24 hours after the initial dose has been administered.
● If your child tests positive for influenza, stay home for five days following onset of symptoms or until fever free for 24 hours- whichever is longer- see complete Kansas requirements:

If you have questions, feel free to contact your school nurse. or
We appreciate your cooperation and communication.

Home Game Student Expectations

  • Students will not be allowed to enter events until gate workers have arrived (cannot stay at school waiting for the event).

  • While attending events in AMS, the building rules will be followed (Dress Code, No Running, Language, Etc.).

  • Students will be allowed in the Commons, Gym A, and Gym B. No hanging out in pods or at lockers.

  • Students will be respectful and courteous at all times. Booing is never allowed or the negative singling out of players (by number or name).

  • Spectators will follow game etiquette (no yelling during vb serves or bb free throws).

  • Students may visit the concession stand and eat/drink in the gym until it becomes an issue. Pick up after yourself!

  • Students are here to support our school/classmates. Go to the appropriate gym and sit down. Restroom and concessions should be taken care of during halftimes and between games.

  • Once a student leaves the event, they may not return.

  • Any student who is suspended or serving an OSS, may NOT attend any event during that time.

  • If you were absent at school the day of an event, you are not allowed to attend.

  • All students will have a ride to pick them up within 10 minutes of the completion of the last game. Students that do not have a ride within a reasonable amount of time will not be allowed to attend future after school events.

  • Any student who, because of their failure to adhere to the preceding rules, can be asked to leave a game. Any student who is ejected from a game forfeits their opportunity to attend any future games.

Please consider purchasing an Athletic Pass through AMS. Passes purchased through AMS directly benefit sports in our building.  LINK
