AMS Parent Update

Friday, September 23, 2022    From:  Mrs. Amy Champlin, Principal & Mrs. Azure Henwood, Assistant Principal

NO SCHOOL - Monday, September 26

DO NOT DROP STUDENTS OFF IN THE FRONT PARKING LOT IN THE MORNINGS!

Students should not be dropped off in front of AMS in the mornings!  CAR RIDER DROP OFF AND PICK UP before 7:50 AM and after 2:25 PM occurs only at the back of AMS at Door D.  LINK TO MAP

Drivers who continue to disregard this rule and use the front parking lot are backing up traffic, impeding access for our staff, interfering with bus traffic  and a hazard for students who are walking and riding bikes.

AMS Library
It’s about that time!  The Bookfair is coming to AMS!  We are anticipating the delivery next week and then we plan to be up and running on October 3!  Students will visit the book fair during their ELA classes for previews and the fair will be open for purchases before and after school.

The theme this year is “A Genre a Day Keeps the Doctor Away”!  This is in conjunction with our STUCO spirit week!  As part of the annual tradition, the new Diary of a Wimpy kid book is available for pre-order with proceeds going to our fair! Students may pick up forms in the library.

New this year, Scholastic is now a retail company and requires us to charge tax. Please be aware as this is a unique change to our normal procedure.

A HUGE thank you to Traci Swindler, our AMSPO President who donated a glider rocker to our quiet room in the library.  Students are already using it and it is making a difference!

We always have questions about people donating books from their home libraries.  We have a few guidelines we try to follow.  If you are interested in donating, please fill out this form and we will get back to you!  We always appreciate donations!

Here’s a special event your student might be interested in attending!

Home Game Student Expectations - Please review with your student…we are having behavior issues with students who are coming to the football games as spectators.

  • Students will not be allowed to enter events until gate workers have arrived (cannot stay at school waiting for event).

  • While attending  AMS events, the building rules will be followed (Dress Code, No Running, Language, Etc.).

  • Students will be allowed in the Commons, Gym A, and Gym B or Football stands on the home side. No hanging out in pods or at lockers.

  • Students will be respectful and courteous at all times. Booing is never allowed or the negative singling out of players (by number or name).

  • Spectators will follow game etiquette (no yelling during vb serves or bb free throws).

  • Students may visit the concession stand and eat/drink in the stands/gym until it becomes an issue. Pick up after yourself!

  • Students are here to support our school/classmates. Go to the appropriate area/gym and sit down. Restroom and concessions should be taken care of during halftimes and between games.

  • Once a student leaves the event, they may not return.

  • Any student who is suspended or serving an OSS, may NOT attend any event during that time.

  • If you were absent at school the day of an event, you are not allowed to attend.

  • All students will have a ride to pick them up within 10 minutes of the completion of the last game. Students that do not have a ride within a reasonable amount of time will not be allowed to attend future after school events.

  • Any student who, because of their failure to adhere to the preceding rules, can be asked to leave a game. Any student who is ejected from a game forfeits their opportunity to attend any future games.
