AMS Parent Update
Friday, May 22, 2020 From Mrs. Debra Regier, Principal
We hope you enjoyed the AMS Virtual Promotion video shared earlier this week. We have enjoyed our 8th grade class and will miss them very much. In case you missed it, here is a link to the video: http://https//youtu.be/Oo2C87OEBt0.
If you missed our designated times to come to the building last week, and you still have school items to return (Chromebook, charger, textbooks, library books) OR need to pick up a yearbook, we will be here on Wednesday (5/27) and Friday (5/29) morning from 8:30 a.m. - noon.
Student grade cards will be mailed home after grades are stored next week. You should receive your student’s grades in the mail by June 1.
We have had many questions about what school will look like next year. The Continuous Learning Task Force has met to discuss options, but specific information is not yet available. We continue to work with officials at the Kansas State Department of Education as well as our local health officials to determine appropriate next steps.
Many of you know that Andover Public Schools has been planning to implement an orchestra program beginning in the 2020-21 school year. We are excited to offer this new opportunity for students.
Due to a weakened state budget and uncertainty with regard to COVID-19, district leaders have decided this fall is not the time to begin phasing in our new orchestra program. We want to start this program at a time when it is most likely to thrive. We are committed to having an orchestra program in Andover Public Schools and will re-evaluate when is the right time for its start.
Summer Camp information is currently on hold in accordance with Governor Kelly’s plan to reopen Kansas. More information will be shared when appropriate.
