This is my 1st year at Andover Middle School although I have been in the Andover district for 14 years. I look forward to teaching English Language Arts to my 8th graders!
Instead of going into teaching directly out of college, I become a buyer for JCPenney Towne East where I was responsible for a budget of $2,000,000 for the dress department and $1,000,000 for the juniors department. When my boys began to show up, I retired from JCPenney and became a stay at home mom until my youngest started 6th grade. At that point, I accepted a special education teaching position at Andover Central Middle School where I stayed for 15 years.
I am married to college sweetheart, Jeff, and we just celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary on August 8th. We have been blessed with 3 boys and 3 daughters-in-laws. (I’m looking forward to future grandchildren which should be happening come this September.) All 3 of my boys are Andover Central High graduates which did a great job of preparing them for college and their current careers – 2 pediatricians (at Wesley in Wichita) and 1 financial planner (at Equitable Financial in KC). My English Bulldog, Juliette, rounds out the family!
I am an avid quilter, cross-stitcher, and cross fitter. Spending time with my family is my favorite thing to do outside of teaching, and I also love going out to eat and either reading or watching murder mysteries both fictional and non-fictional.
