Welcome Back! I hope your summer was fun, safe, and restful and that you are geared up for another great year at Andover! I just want to take this moment to give you some background on myself on a professional and personal level.
After graduating from Kansas State University in 1997, I started my educational career at Hutchinson Community College in the Student Support Services department. There, I helped first generation college students, students with disabilities, and lower socioeconomic students become successful in math. Many of these students were not prepared properly for college and had major math anxiety due to past experiences in middle and high school. So, after six years at that level, I decided maybe I could help students at an earlier age and set them on a more positive path toward college. Fortunately, I found that opportunity here at Andover Middle School. This will be my sixteenth year at AMS and my twenty-second as an educator, and I expect it will be a fabulous and fun one!
Toward the end of my first year at AMS, I married my husband, Dave. We have two young girls, Morgan (12 yrs) and Taylor (9 yrs). I'm afraid that their interests keep me more busy than my own. Throughout the course of the year, they are involved in Girl Scouts, volleyball, soccer, and softball as well as tons of friend time. When I can carve out some time for myself, I enjoy reading, playing sudoku, and watching house renovation shows. My favorite sports to watch are Shocker's basketball and Royal's baseball. I love Mexican food and LOVE, LOVE coffee!
I look forward to getting to know more about each of you! I hope we can make this a positive and productive year. Please feel free to call or email me with questions or comments.
