I attended Wichita East High School, graduating in 1985. Following high school I went to MidAmerica Nazarene College (now known as MidAmerica Nazarene University) in Olathe, Kansas graduating in 1991 with a dual BA degree in Christian Education/K-9 Education. I then received my MEd degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Wichita State University in 1997, focusing on middle school science education.
WIth my BA in K-9 education, my MEd in Curriculum and Instruction and hundreds of hours of workshops over the years my certification lists that I am in accordance with the state as Highly Qualified in the following three areas; K-6 Core Content MESH, Elementary K-9 and Science 5-8.
I began teaching 8th grade science in Andover in 1997 to the present; a total of 18 years. Along with teaching 8th grade science I have also been coaching a variety of sports and sponsoring activities since then, too. In my 18 years here in the district I have sponsored Science Olympiad and have coached basketball (boys and now girls), track and when we adopted middle school tennis then became the coach for boys and girls.
Prior to Andover I spent 5 years in Derby, where I began my career in 1992 teachning 6th grade math, science and social studies.
Outside of teaching I coach boy's and girl's tennis and girl's basketball. I enjoy spending time relaxing with my family.
