Welcome to Mr. Fox's 6th Grade Science Page
As we transition to online learning, here is some information on how lessons will be conducted for this 4th nine weeks.
How will I be taught?
All lesson will be found on Google Classroom. Lessons and information will be presented to students by teacher lecture videos, YouTube clips, online labs, posted materials and live Zoom meetings.
When is Mr. Fox available for questions or help?
My office hours are:
Monday - Thursday 1:00-3:00pm
Thursday Evenings 5:00-7:00pm
Where can I find my lessons for the week?
Everything you will need for your weekly lessons will be found in your Google Classroom. Your assignments may involve you watching a video and then answering questions in Edpuzzle, sending me a Flipgrid answering questions or showing me your observations.
What will be taught this 4th nine weeks?
This 4th quarter has been designated for the study of Ecology. Students will be focusing on what is abiotic/biotic, organization of living things, habitats and how organisms interact with each other.
How will I be graded?
There will be four grades taken for this quarter. Three of the grades will be categorized as daily assignment and labs. The fourth assignment will be categorized as a project/test. Each assignment will either be scored as a 100% (if the work has been completed) or 59.9% (for missing work). Due to the limitation on the number of scores that can be counted toward the student's grade this 9 weeks, I will be combining weeks 1 and 2 activities for a grade, weeks 3 and 4 activities for a grade and weeks 5 and 6 activities for a grade. For example, if a student completed 2 of 3 assignments and was missing one of the assignments (for weeks 1 and 2) they would score 100%, 100% and 59.9%. Their average for weeks 1 and 2 activities would be 86.63%. All assignments are absolutely due by May 21st. I will post students 4th Quarter final grades on May 22nd.
This 4th quarter we will be focusing on your brain research papers, the coronavirus, and how evidence is collected, analyzed and used in the court of law.
